I was going through my bookshelf today and I came across the bridal magazine that I was actually published in a few years ago. It was an article that talked about reconstructing a wedding. I was quoted about what to do with your bridal gown after the wedding. Which of course is appropriate, because after all I do have a bridal consignment shop. When I opened in 2009 I was the only bridal consignment shop in the area. So in my own mind, I consider myself a pioneer for the bridal consignment business in WNY. I have always shopped at consignment stores, so I thought why not combine that with my wedding coordination business. I love saving money and while getting something awesome. In my case small business really means small business. My daughter and occasionally my husband are the only “employees. I never dreamed that I would have had or even be interested in having a business. It was great to look at that article again, and get that little thrill of pride seeing my business and name in an actual bridal magazine. I usually can remember how far I have come,(and let’s face it how far I have to go),but a tangible reminder is nice too. So when I have those days that I wonder is this really going to work, I will remember my small claim to fame. 🙂
Yes it is possible to get a beautiful bridal look without breaking the budget. That is why I decided to open my bridal consignment shop. I have shopped in consignment stores for years. Admittedly some are better than others when it comes to the selection and condition the clothes. In the right store you can even get brand new with tags pieces.
I absolutely love it when brides find their dream dress. I had a bride just recently who came in and was “just looking”. As soon as I put on the veil she knew. She cried, her friend cried and I got chills. It was awesome.
Brand new with tags David’s Bridal style # V9263. Satin corset ball gown with beaded lace appliques, organza pick-up skirt, and lace-up back. Original price $599. At my consignment boutique $450.
Matching veil and tiara are also available.
We had a great time at the Bridal Show at the Hidden Valley Animal Adventure in Varysburg, NY this past weekend. The theme was Peacock and I had a great time making the centerpieces. I never knew how much I loved the look and colors until I did these! The lodge also does weddings and it is a beautiful location. They have a place for the ceremony outside, and the reception in the main area of the lodge.
The lodge was absolutely beautiful and they provided a great room for the girls to get ready and hang out before the show. They did not have an official fashion show, but my oldest and her 2 friends had a great time walking around in bridal gowns.
It was a great show and one I plan on doing again next year!
As I sit here at my desk I have a great view of all the new and once loved gowns I have here in the shop. It is like Christmas each time I get a new one in. I am always amazed at the different styles. When I think I have a favorite, another new one comes in. I truly love it when a bride finds a dress that they can see themselves getting married in. Being the only WNY Bridal Consignment Shop in the area, means that I get inventory from all around the area from all kinds of designers. I cannot wait until the next bride comes in to find her gown……
Here is one of my favorite looks, which is a brand new gown from Alfred Angelo. I also happen to have a matching tiara.
